Nostalgic : Diablo 2 Mods

Some days ago I posted about D3 now we need to look back for older title D2. This is the game that make me buy other Blizzard produced game. This masterpiece is a worth look back be it old school gamer and even newcomer. Yeah D2 has some minus compare to D1 ( the back-story) but who can forget the great Battle.net D2 play, items collecting and infamous cow level. (Note. This game maybe not considered pure-RPG)

Now we don’t talked about the greatness of game. It’s already covered by bunch of internet review. We talked about collection of must have mods to enhance more its replayability. Yeah it’s still have quite active mods community and some mods are still made devotedly (I thinks even D1 mods still active) . Here are some D2 mods which is great :

1. Median XL (Brother Laz) The main attraction of Median XL is the brand new skill trees,, providing a whole new experience. Spell colorful effects and importantly 21+1 new uberquests. Works for all latest D2: LoD version

2. Battle for Elements (TrueMage) Difficulty of Mod is increased in comparison with vanilla game. Many new gameplay system implemented. Recommended for Hardcore player (monster was kicking hard). Need D2:LoD version 1.10

3.Back to Hellfire Ever wanted to play the first Diablo story again, only with all the greatness of the second? Back to Hellfire does just that and adds some new features into the mix as well. This is a modification for Diablo II Lord of Destruction 1.10.

4. Zy-El: Trial by Fire (Kato) Lots of new stuff not found on Battle.net. Infinite storage in stash, maximum character level 10,000, suit for maximum play but beware of its addiction. Need to reinstall D2 from scratch because This mod only works with patch 1.09d of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction

Ok that’s all, for some others complete listing can be found in PlanetDiablo or Moddb

Thanks to Moddb for the Info.

This Fallout 3 game is one of long awaited sequel from Fallout series. But I haven't buy it yet cause I would like to wait for community mods. Especially mods that can change Fallout 3 gameplay to isometric and turn based (maybe who knows). The fans of Fallout series especially hardcore one didn't like the new one very much due to graphics, AI, animation, no Turn Based. So I waited for what community can give to those hardcore gamer. No Insult here. I myself respect both sides be it Newcomer as well as Hardcore. But I consider myself is a Newbie in PC gaming.

List of Mods that already released used for changing some small stuff beside lack of any SDK (Software Development Kit) from Bethesda

MTUI
Essential UI adjustments for Fallout 3: smaller fonts, larger item selection areas, improved conversation menus, etc. Designed for screen resolutions of 1024x768 and higher.

XP increaser sets the XP needed per level to level up higher so to give slower leveling

Misc Item Weight rebalances misc item weight realistically.

Pipware UI

- Vertical Scrollbar Markers are now easier to click and drag

- More Space for Dialog-Lists, Inventory-Display, Barter-Display and Container-Display

Amplified Crippled Effects

New from Vault-Tec, Amplified Crippled Effects, or ACE, works towards making crippling limbs a very viable thing to do in combat. Cripple an enemies legs, and they slow to a crawl. Cripple the arms, and their aim goes way off. Cripple the head to reduce their aim by half blinding them. Cripple the torso, and their strength and endurance drop sharply. Version 0.1 only deals with the legs, due to restrictions with current modding tools. Additional body parts will be added as possible. Other minor tweaks for balance have also been made.

That all what can i get from community as a result of no tools accompanying them to make mods like previous Bethesda game (TES series). I don’t clear what the developers think of but without ready made or official tools there isn’t many modders can do. The reason? For DLC sake or No more nudity mod that hurts sales. I don’t know exactly. But let’s hope they release it lately than never.

Thanks to Gamexeon for info.

This is my first blog and this post is my first post too :). Okay Let's start it. First I want to explain that this blog is made for giving my little experience in modding or can I say adding mods to a game. When I bought a new PC in late 2005 I was suggested by my pal to buy some fun PC game too. I hear and follow his choice cause my lack of experience in choosing a suitable PC game (considering I only play console game that moment). My choose is two, one is Fable:The Lost Chapter, a PC port from Xbox game and second is Civilization 4. After finishing familiar one made for console game (Fable), I got bored. So I give Civilization a try, several weeks playing I got hooked up, It was addicting game. But somehow I felt bored again ( cause of I never give a scenario a try, just playing normal game). After searching the game files, I found a strange folder called "Mods", inside it I found folder that contains other title names like "Desert War". It's have same folder structure like "Assets" that also within the main game one but with different kind of files.

Following my curiousity with "Mods" word, I surfing internet and search for "Mods" in Google. I found the definition but not found the Civilization 4 Mods. So I browsed Gamespot and finally found them "Mods for Civ4". I download them and also the Civ4 Patch. I have fun with the mods especially one that called "Fall From Heaven" created by a guy (Kael). This Mods is called Total Conversion Mods. It's changed not only the scenario but also the elements from main game like Units, Gameplay, and adding new elements of strategy like using Magic. So the mods change Civ4 become Civ4 with Magic.

Oh, one last note from my early experience, I already play Counter Strike before 2005 (a famous mods from Half-Life that already became standalone game or product). But don't realised that CS is just a mods from other game until that day. I very amazed on how Modder change the way a game played. It's a pity that console game don't have that flexibility. Mods make gaming not bored anymore.
